*Two years ago*
"Really Emrich, must you act this way?" Emsha looked at her brother from across the table. Emrich was always quiet and sad it seemed to Emsha. She took a sip from her goblet and rolled her eyes at her twin. He wasn't any fun anymore; they didn't play anymore like they did as children. Now that they were sixteen, he barely made an appearance around her at all. Why had he changed into something that she was beginning to fear?
Emrich snorted and leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms. "You are the one who gets all the attention, why should I act just like you? There is not enough attention to go around for the both of us, dear sister." He watched her intently. His sister had changed from a girl to a woman, this surprised him, yet very little. Since they were both elves, he could see why her maturity was beyond others around their age.
"I highly doubt it is like that, Emrich. You have always been the quiet one. And you just hate the fact that I have Father's attention more now, then you do!" Emsha pushed back from the table and stormed from the room. He really got under her skin when he acted this way towards her. He was harsh and cold to her, not even speaking to her at the dinner table on most nights. As Emsha rounded the corridor corner she saw the guards posted at the south entrance of the castle. They stood silently, heads held high. Most of the guards at the castle had practically grown up with her or had known her since birth. They all carried a special place in her heart; almost all were like brothers to her.
She sighed as she past the men, they both bowed their heads at her when she walked towards them; a friendly smile on their lips. "A stroll in the garden this evening, m'lady?"
Emrich burned with anger. Did she really have to say what he was thinking? He stood abruptly and waved his arm across the table's surface, casing several dishes to clatter to the floor. The servants stood motionless against the wall. "If you speak about what happened within these walls, I will personally throw you into the dungeon to rot." he snarled at them. They all nodded and quickly went over to clean the mess as he left the room. "You think you are so smart sister, you think you know me and how I feel..." he grumbled under his breath. The torch lights flickered and danced across the walls of the corridor as Emrich walked to his chamber. Soon, he was going to show what he was made of...soon indeed.
